Most practice-based performing arts courses have auditions. Like just about everything else, auditions vary considerably by both course and institution – so make sure you research well. Some institutions will charge for auditions – but there are fee waiver schemes in place for those that need them.
Auditions can take many forms: as well as presenting a piece, you may be asked to participate in a group activity, a workshop or even some on the spot tests. Some institutions or courses may also have several rounds: the initial audition and recalls for successful candidates. Once again, however, each course and each institution is different so be sure to check carefully and prepare yourself accordingly.
We have collected here links for general audition advice as well as some subject and institutional specific resources.
